Erik grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and at an early age knew he was destined to be an engineer.  After graduating from Michigan Technological University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, his first career step involved the development of brushless DC diesel engine componentry aimed at improving efficiencies and oil life.  From there Erik spent over a decade in the towing and trailering industry, earning several patents and his Professional Engineering license.  Most recently Erik and his family took advantage of an opportunity to move back the U.P. and work for a medical device company focusing on spinal hardware.  Realizing a market need for an experienced design and analysis expert which can work remotely, he founded Iron Bay Engineering LLC in the spring of 2019.
